Rugs ain't easy..

We have just received a NEW shipment of rugs from the USA. Wool - Indoor outdoor - Sisal.
We are now stocking a new range of In 2 Outdoor Sisal rugs made to measure. 3 weeks delivery time.

RUGS are a major feature of any living space due to their sheer size and so they become a heavily debated topic with the occupants within the home.

Here are some of my suggestions on how to narrow down selecting a rug.

Small Spaces

Clients often purchase a rug that is too small for the living area. They tend to focus on a small rug for placing under the coffee table.

A small open plan living/dining should have a rug covering both areas. For many, this is not feasible, so opt for no rug in the living area.

I do then recommend a rug for a hallway which are often lonely and cold spaces.

Hallway rugs can hold pattern, colour and reflect your personality. This way, the rug won't clash with the interior design of the living room.

Room Shape

The shape of the room will define the shape of the rug.

Round or oval rooms should have a round or oval rug. Rectangular rooms should have a rectangular rug. It helps highlight the architecture of the space.

Furniture on or off the rug?

There is no set rule but I prefer furniture ON the rug. It anchors the space and makes it feel more intimate.

Layering

I LOVE to add a pattern on top of a natural flooring base. It funks up a living area and adds more appeal to the space.

If you get bored the patterned rug can be re-deployed into another room or bedroom as its smaller in size than the base rug.

The Decision

Definitely try the rug or rug sample in the home.

At Bungalow 55 we loan rugs so that you don't make the wrong choice.

Texture, colour, size and shape all depend on the light and other materials in your home. The rugs often look very different from what you see in the showroom.
